Volunteering is rad.

Get on board.

SkateMD is operated and staffed 100% by volunteers. We like to think we have the best volunteers in Northern California! And, the success of our skateboard clinics depends on the help of these volunteers. Since we strive to provide one-on-one coaching for the youth, we solicit the help of local skateboarders (18 years and over) to serve as "Skate Buddies".  Skate Buddies do not require previous experience working with children with special needs. SkateMD will provide you with a short training and specialists are on-site to support you as you work with participants.

To round out our crew, SkateMD also seeks the help of:
  • Event support (e.g. registration, snack table, etc.).
  • Photographers and filmers.
  • Local emergency personnel for first aid station.
  • Professionals in the community serving youth, including special needs youth (e.g. physical therapists, special needs aids, etc.) who can support our skateboarders in the process.
  • Members of the community interested in joining our board of directors or committees.

Our program also offers a good opportunity for youth and college students seeking experiences/hours volunteering and also working with children and special needs.

Remaining 2020 Dates and Locations (subject to change due to COVID-19 restrictions):
  • Sunday, September 20 at Sutter's Landing in Sacramento
  • Saturday, November 7 at Sutter's Landing in Sacramento

Sign up now.

We have had 100% positive feedback from our volunteers who have found it completely inspiring and surprisingly fun. There's no better time than the present to get on board. The next clinic is scheduled for May 17 in the Foothills (Auburn or Placerville - TBD). Check back soon for volunteer opportunities.
Volunteer Waiver
A release of liability is needed for all clinic volunteers.  To save time, we recommend completing the waiver in advance by clicking the link below.  Completion of this waiver does NOT confirm your volunteer registration for a specific clinic event.  Volunteers need to sign up for a role in the link above.

"My face hurts from smiling. This experience is one of the ONLY times that I felt my eight year old kid fit in, was safe and supported, and I could step back and watch the awesome. Thank you!" - Mary Hoberg, Mother of Elsa
